Experience
I was a corporate finance lawyer for 6 years at leading Dutch firm De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek in Amsterdam, then London, as well as a secondee to GDF SUEZ in Brussels, before founding the legal tech and services business, Lexoo, with funding from two VCs. I sold the business in 2024 and have set up DraftPilot, an AI-driven contract mark-up business aimed at in-house. At Lexoo, as CEO, I managed a team of lawyers as well as individuals from all other aspects of the business, and have written regularly on the topic.
Focus
My focus is to help individuals at whatever level to deal with client or commerciality issues, as well as how to manage others effectively, particularly in how to provide feedback. As a service-provider to in-house legal departments for the last 10 years, I am interested in helping private practice lawyers understand in-house better and helping in-house lawyers understand how to be more efficient individually or as a team, through smarter ways of working or using technology. I am also eager to help other entrepreneurial lawyers considering starting up or facing difficult issues, on which they want another point of view.
Philosophy
My philosophy is to support people to have the confidence to pursue their course. I am a great believer that one can learn a huge amount from one's mistakes and try to be open about mine before asking others to be open about theirs. I help people to develop good habits that can really enhance their focus and productivity and am also an evangelist for using simple technology in smart ways to enhance these attributes. My style is relaxed, open, warm and direct.
