Experience
I was promoted to partner in 1996 at Fieldfisher where I was the head of the Technology practice before becoming Global Managing Partner of Fieldfisher in 2012 where I led the firm for over a decade. We came through some challenging times to treble our revenue, become a truly European law firm and one of the fastest growing law firms in the UK top 50. I was proud of our focus on nurturing diverse talent in the firm and for our progressive culture. Over my 26 years as a partner I have managed, recruited and mentored many lawyers and enjoy it. I consider it a key part of the role of a senior lawyer, or indeed, retired lawyer, as I now am to support and help develop the next generation of lawyers and leaders.
Focus
I am keen to help lawyers who are thinking about what type of firm and culture is right for them and how to develop their careers to enjoy a satisfying legal career which is fulfilling as well as rewarding. As someone who has been throughout my career a pioneer for inclusivity I am also keen to help anyone from a diverse background who feels they are also having to contend with some of the challenges of being a minority in the legal sector.
Philosophy
While people obviously have different temperaments and reactions to good and bad news, I believe that professional people deserve clear, honest and direct communication, delivered in a thoughtful and supportive fashion.
