Experience

I have over twenty years of corporate experience at executive and non-executive director level in the corporate as well as the public sector. I moved into the field of leadership consulting and coaching following an executive career in corporate responsibility, most recently as Group CR Director for Tesco Plc and CEO of the criminal justice charity JustforKids Law. I am also a non-executive Director (Member of Court) of the University of Edinburgh. For the past decade I have run Aspen Institute leadership seminars for senior executives in the UK and across Europe. My coaching expertise in the legal sector spans in-house lawyers, private practice and the Bar.

Focus

The focus of my coaching is to help you achieve better professional results. I do this by working with you to help you understand your motivations and what holds you back, then equipping you to harness this self-knowledge to make better decisions. I am realistic about the demands and complexities of senior roles, and the need for tangible results, while not neglecting the challenging emotional demands of effective leadership. I understand that you and your organisation will be looking for real, measurable progress. At the same time, my psycho-dynamic training means I am skilled at looking below the surface and can help you access some of the subconscious motivations and limitations inherent in your thinking, your role and your organisation. Most of my clients work with me for between six and eight sessions, over a period of around six months. Each session lasts up to 1.5 hours, and can take place at my consulting rooms in Clerkenwell, at your place of work, or over the phone / online.

Philosophy

I am particularly interested in values-based leadership, how to manage conflict between personal values and organisational expectations, and how individuals can use their personal values to enhance their professional progress.
